Q: I have a question for anyone that owns a 2007, or 2008 toyota tundra?
I am strongly considering getting a 2008 toyota tundra, and i was wondering what kind of gas mileage you are getting with the V8 4.7 liter engine, and what you people are getting with the big 5.7 liter engine? If you could tell me your size engine and the mileage in the city, and the highway that would be great!!! Thanks guys and gals!!!
A: The 4.7 and 5.7 get the same mileage,so unless you want less power for the same mileage ill get the 5.7.

A: Well, if you drive it off of a tall cliff or drop it from an airplane at relatively low altitude it'll reach somewhere around 200-225 mph. In high altitudes where the buoyancy of the air is low, it might even reach 400mph or so. That truck has a lot of drag.

A: Crew cab sacrifices bed space, if your looking for hauling capacity the double cab would have a larger bed.

A: Not safely and not for long until its got serious damage since its well above what that truck is rated for.
Tundra 4x4 SR5 5.7 V8 is rated at 10,300 lbs. Which is less than the F150 (11,000 lbs) and the Silverado (10,500 lbs).
You would need at least a 3/4 ton and probably a diesel.

A: You need to do the above procedure...BUT odometer needs to be on TRIP A (not trip B).

A: Late October early November. Nobody knows until we see it on our months incoming. There are going to be very minor changes why would you pay a premium when you could save thousands now until the 2007's are gone!

i want to buy the new 2008 toyota tundra but when i saw that the mpg was 15 ....i thought twice abt it.....what i would like to know is what can i do to improve the mpg...or what can i buy to improve it
A: I work at Toyota, the MPG is 15 in the city and 18 on the HWY. Its the motor trend truck of the year so its definitly the right truck to buy. However if you're interested in saving gas, then you might as well get a Prius. 45 MPG in the city and 48 on the HWY. However if you're hell bent on the truck you could always convert it into a biodiesel.

A: Since you want the 4.7 in a Tundra, I can recommend it without second thought.
MY Tundra has 97,000 trouble-free miles on it, and I replaced the brakes for the FIRST time at 80,000.
At trade in time, the Tundra will get ya more money, and if you sell it yourself, it will sell quickly.
I just recently sold (for my daughter) a Silverado in like new cond for WAY less than what it SHOULD have sold for. This truck didn't even have a door ding on it. Seriously.
I owned a GMC 1500 5.7 and put 200,000 miles on it, and it was still running like new when I got rid of it, but I was lucky. Most people have SOME kind of problems with them.

I live in L.A and really like the new Tundra Crew Max, but would it be worth buying this truck. This would be my first car off a dealer. I have been looking and the prices and estimating the payment, gas and insurance and it seems pricey. Is there any one that owns a 2008 Tundra Crew Max 5.7L TRD Off Road 4x2 and lives in L.A in that stop and go traffic? If so please let me know how you do on the MPG and paying at the pump.
A: in LA traffic, around 10-12 mpg... tops.
that much truck, if you don't intend to tow or haul with it is a waste any time.
also, contrary to toyota's typical reputation, the new toyota tundra's have the lowest rated reliability of any fullsize truck right now...

A: the suspension is a lot beefier on the new tundras compared to the older ones.

Trying to figure out which one will pull my boat the best. I just bought a 38' kv scarab and am trying to purchase a truck to go and get it with. I like the ford better but was wondering for other peoples opinions as well.
A: No offense to the Tundra but it's a competitor to the F-150. It couldn't touch a F-350 with it's pulling capability.
Go Ford, it has a strong heritage. Don't bet your boat on a newbie and one that isn't that heavy duty.
