Q: what do i need to tune up a 1995 toyota tercel?
1995 tune up. what do i remove and replace?

A: It really depends on your budget and condition of the car. A tune up should ideally be done in a set so that the componets can set, or breakin together... First: start with oil change, oil filter change, air cleaner change, spark plugs, ignition wires, distributer and ignition rotor. Next change the fuel filter and O2 sensor (since it is probably dirty by now..) These changes will get you much better throttle response, better emissions, and fuel efficiency, plus restore horsepower. You should change the transmission fluid next, and then flush the coolant system and refill it with a 50/50 mix of coolant and water. Finally you should pour in some fuel injector cleaner or all in one fuel system cleaner to help clean the system. Belts are last, since they can be costly. Timming belt is most important. Unfortunately you have to replace this when it is not broken...if it breaks, the engine shuts off, causing damage, and also it cost much more to replace if it breaks on you. So this belt is NUMBER 1 on the list. Next is are the other belts. Alternator belt, serpentine belt, and acessory belts such as AC compressor belts etc. That would be the end of most normal tuneups. If you have the money to do all this your engine, if maintained with oil changes should last you way into 200,000 miles or more! Barring leaking gaskets. You may be interested to know that brakes technology has increased since your car was made. Pick up a set of ceramic pads for your car. It will actually make the car stop faster than when it was new.

Q: 1995 Toyota Tercel, automatic with overdrive - transmission and differential separate?
Do they have separate fill holes? I'm having trouble finding the fill on the differential after changing the front axle and I was wondering if the differential might fill through the transmission like on some cars.

A: Yes they share the same fluid, Fill it throught the dipstick tube let it run and warm up then check in park running.

Q: My 1995 Toyota Tercel makes a squealing noise when I turn my lights or my a/c on. Is it a bad alternator?

A: While I agree with disbsam3, it sounds more like the belt to me. Get that belt changed and yuo should be good to go. I still wouldn't weed out the alternator. If it is, no worries. It's probably the first time in 13 years that it's had to be replaced- a testament of high reliable this car's parts are.

Q: What should I expect to pay for having a mechanic replace the EGR valve system on a 1995 toyota tercel?
(Parts + Labor) should cost around? I got the diagnosed code Code: P0401 - Definition: EGR system fault (Exhaust Gas Recirculation) - Explanation: The ECH has detected too little flow on the EGR system

A: dude, you already know what it is so just replace it yourself? duh? if you pay someone to replace it, watch what they do. you will kick your own butt for not doing it yourself. it's a no brainer fix....remove and replace.

Q: What are the headbolts torqued to in a 1995 Toyota Tercel DX?

A: Definitely use NEW bolts only. They call these Torque to Yield bolts, they actually stretch and remain stretched. Also, be sure to clean the bottom of the holes, crap inside may interfere with torque and/or travel of the bolts. Happy Torquing

Q: Installing a CD changer in Toyota Tercel 1995 with factory fitted Cassate Player?
i have toyota tercel 1995 which comes with a factory fitted Cassate player, is it possible that i can hook up a CD changer with this i means does these come with an option to put sound in because i removed that from a car which had an aftermarket cassate player which was attached to this cd changer and if so how to do this thanks for help

A: If you want to hook up a cd changer you could do this either through a cassette adapter or fm modulator. Most new cd changers will have a fm modulator that comes with them. This is a way to connect a cd changer to any car. The fm modulator is going to be your best option because i don't believe your car has the ability to add a cd changer.

Q: Whats wrong with my 3 speed 1995 toyota tercel?
My tercel sometimes gets stuck on 2nd gear while driving on the freeway. It doesnt happen all the time but it usually happens once a trip. For some reason it stays on 2nd unless I slow down to under 50 mph and stomp on the gas till it goes back to 1st gear and upshifts to 2nd and 3rd. Is there an adjustment that needs to be made? What could the problem be? by the way the tranny never slips. Thanks

A: sound like a shift solenoid or valve is getting stuck. start with a fluid and filter change.

Q: Approx cost of changing front/rear brake of toyota tercel 1995?
hi i have a toyota tercel 1995 and i want to change the front and back breaks what should be approx cost at an independent grage. thanks for help

A: I am a mechanic at an independent garage, and I can say from experience the cost is around $300 give or take a bit for all 4 brakes. This is as long as there is no damage to the brake lines, brackets, etc. When I do a brake job, I turn the rotors (or drums), repack the bearings (if necessary), replace the pads (or shoes if they are drum brakes) and and clean the ABS components if present, as well as cleaning the brake assembly. The price can go up if one or more rotors are cracked or worn too much to resurface, or if the system has been run dry. Running your brake system without fluid will destroy the master cylinder, and on drum brakes can also destroy the wheel cylinders. If this is the case the cost can go upwards of $800. or more. Plan on a minimum of $100.00 per brake to be safe. If you are mechanically inclined you can do it yourself (except for turning the rotors) for about $50.00 per brake. It is very simple, and does not require anything more than a few hand tools (wrenches), a good jack, a lug wrench, a good sturdy screwdriver, and a caliper compressor (can be borrowed from any Auto Zone or Advanced Auto. If you do it yourself, go ahead and buy the Chelton service and repair manual for your make model and year of your vehicle.

Q: 1995 Toyota Tercel DX?
I've recently bought a 1995 Toyota Tercel with 65,700 miles on it of a total (inc. the registration fee and all that other bs) of $3,917. Do you think is a good by. I have to go pick it up on Wednesday the 17.

A: If it is absolutely perfect, it is a little high. Sounds like you are buying it from a dealer... get a warranty. Carfax the vin before picking it up. When you get the car change the timing and serp belt, plugs, wires, filters, oil change, trans fluid change, wheel alignment, tires if needed, brakes... and have a mech do a look over. Having a mech look over the car before buying would be better, but if sounds like maybe you already bought the car.

Q: cost of 4 new tyres toyota tercel 1995?
i am planning to change all 4 tires on my toyota tercel 1995 (it is 13 ") how much will be total cost like tyre, mounting, balancing weight etc i saw walmart for 39 dollars each tyres which brand will be good for all season tyres

A: I had a 1997 tercel, and I bought four tires from Wal-Mart for about 40 bucks a piece. I also bought tire maintenance plan from Wal-Mart too, which covered doing rotate and balance and tire protect. I believe it was like 7 to 10 dollars per tire for the coverage. It was a good deal. The tires lasted longer than the car after I put them on.

Q: best sparke plugs and wire for toyota tercel 1995?
hi, i want to change my tercel 1995 120 k miles sparke plug.. should i change the wires as well which brand should i use for maximum performance pls help thanks

A: The brand that the Tercel came with is NipponDenso, which you can get if you look hard enough, but NGK makes a good replacement product for you Toyota. For the NipponDenso, you will probably need to visit the dealer, for the NGK, any local auto parts store should have them in stock. Yes, replace the wires, and distributor cap and rotor button.
