I've got a 1993 Tercel. I been with out A/C for sometime and just bought a retrofit kit. I found the high-side port but I am having trouble locating the low-side port. Any Toyota techs out there who know where the low side port is? Thanks!

I have a 1993 Toyota Tercel and it idles fine but when i push the accelerator it bogs out and I cant figure out whats wrong with it.I have replaced the plugs wires fuel filter and it still does the same thing.

Q: 1993 toyota tercel rough idle?
I have a 1993 toyota tercel dx engine running rough when idle and rougher when it's in gear and the whole car starts shaking. Where is EGR?

A: give it a tune up. rotor, cap, plugs, wires, air filter, oil. See if that doesn't help.

Q: My 1993 Toyota, tercel is vibrating alot, does anyone have any idea to what it might be?
Someone told it me it might be the engine mount, is there any possibility it also might be the transmisson.

A: Check your front axles, your struts, see if your tires are properly inflated... do the quick check stuff before you blindly go replacing motor mounts ! Does it vibrate when it's sitting still or only when it rolls ???

Q: 1993 Toyota Tercel, Manuel, have to press the clutch several time to get car started. What to do?
Never had problem until today. Have to press clutch all the way in so safety device will allow ignition to start car. Suddenly today may have to press clutch several times before ignition will fire. Is there an easy solution to this problem, possibly a switch ar fuse or something?

A: Your solenoid is bad in the safety switch for the clutch, so you'll either have to replace the whole safety switch or the solenoid.

Q: Is it easy to replace a CV joint on a Toyota tercel 1993? Poor college student?
Its a 93 1.7 L engine, and the CV is shot, pep boys told me it would be about 700 to fix and repair but my friend did his, so i was wondering if people had some insight on this matter. Thank you So where would i go to get a rebuilt axle? My friend goes to college in California and i am at Florida st.

Q: how to fix a leaking thermostat for a 1993 toyota tercel?

A: You will have to pull of the water neck, buy a gasket scraper and scrap off the old one from the block. Go to Pepboys and buy a new themostat gasket and put it back on. But make sure the themostat is on straight and facing the right way or you will have a lot of problems.

Q: my 1993 toyota tercel's engine has started shaking alot and feels like it going to turn of what can be the pro

A: Sounds like a timing problem. If it just happened all of a sudden, then it may have jumped a cog on the timing belt. Replace the timing belt and tensioner.

Q: Heating/Cooling Fan on a 1993 toyota tercel not working.?
This morning i went out to my car and the fan did not work i am wondering where it is and if there is anything else that could be bad like a switch or a relay. After a while it started to humm but at a really low speed. Then when i started to accelerate it stoped and when i started to slow down it worked alittle then it stopped when i stopped. I need to do this before too long because it is hard to drive with a fogged window.

A: Duck under the dash on the passenger side and look for a connector that has two large wires going to it, one light blue with white stripe and one light blue with red stripe. That is the blower motor, and it has 3 screws holding it in place. What you are describing sounds like the motor is failing. To test: Remove the glove box and look for a small relay block that has 1 relay on the top, one 10A fuse in the middle and one larger 30A fuse on the bottom. That is the power center for the blower motor. Turn the ignition on and move the fan switch from off to 1 and the relay should click. (Feel it.) If it doesn't, try another position. It should switch on in fan speed 1 and stay on until you move it back to off. Find a position where the relay comes on and stays on and leave it there. Pull the relay out (it will be hard) and then put it back in partially. With the ignitiion on, jump the two bottom large pieces of metal on the relay (it's fused, so don't worry, it can't hurt you) with a screw driver tip. If the fan doesn't come on at the speed indicated by the switch, the blower motor is bad. Otherwise, it could be the switch, resistor or relay. In other words, time to take it to someone familiar with the system. Let me know how it turns out and I'll try to help further. God Bless!

Q: 1993 toyota tercel, dead cell in battery, replaced. car still wont turn over. one person said fuel pump ? help?

A: Don't waste money replacing odd parts ! You can test the fuel psi at the fuel rail.Pickup a ' haynes ' manual for $18 at yer nearest parts store. Then keep up with ALL the maintenance. Good Luck =^ )

Q: Rough Idle 1993 Toyota Tercel, what's wrong?
So I changed my water pump, and in the process i took off the fuel pressure regulator, because i thought it was in my way. When putting EVERYTHING back i could not find the Bolt (union bolt-like a bleeder screw) that goes on top of the regulator. So I needed the car and got a bolt that fits the size, and I drilled holes to the bolt, for temporary use, but i believe not enough fuel was being delivered. I drive the car and its idling rough, and is using a lot of gas. I driven the car for about 200 miles, and I finally went to get the right bolt at the dealership. I put this bolt in its place, and drive the car around, and its the same. What would cause the car to idle back and use up a lot of gas? Please help. -Does the ECU have to memorize the fuel/air induction? -Might I have a vacuum hose that just went bad? -Please help

A: While the little car is idling, with the hood open, can you hear a pronounced "hiss"? If you are not sure, with the engine idling, use a can of carb cleaner and spray around the intake area, particularly in the area you were working. If there is a change in the idle and it smooths out, locate the leak and repair it. Be certain that you replaced everything else correctly. I know, you probably have checked, but check again. You admittedly lost one of the pieces, so, if necessary, go back and re-check EVERY place you put your hands. If this doesn't turn something up, there could be a coincidence. Go here------> http://autorepair.about.com/library/ts/obd-i/bl-dtcs-48a.htm ...and scroll down below the descriptions, and follow the procedure for retrieving codes. If there are any, write them down, and refer to the description(s) for the areas of needed attention. If there is a code delivered for a particular system, refer to a repair manual and follow the proper DIAGNOSTIC routine first, BEFORE repairing or replacing any component(s). One system (eg. fuel) can affect mixture, and can cause a code for a MAP or O2 sensor etc. Check that you replaced all of the plug wires in the correct order and on the correct plug. Basically, check the basics. It was running before you started. Look to see what YOU did that changed it. It doesn't take much, and when you find it, you will probably feel really dumb. I know I do when I do those sorts of things. Good Luck and Merry Christmas

Q: I am about to buy a 1993 4 door Toyota Tercel and the only problem is that it's running on 3 cylinders?
I wanted to know if it would still run pretty good since it's only running on 3 cylinders and about how much will it cost me to get it fixed

A: don't buy it !!! never buy a used vehicle with engine/ transmission problems or floor board rot... it would not be worth the time and money to fix a car of that year and model. you will no doubt spend as much to fix it as you did to buy it or more. you also have to question WHY is it only running on 3 cylinders? also how long has it been driven around in it's present state? unless your getting this car for under $300, i don't suggest it.

Q: What is the size of the nut for Toyota Tercel 1993, that downpipe connection from exhaust manifold? please hel

A: 14mm

Q: Toyota Tercel windshield washer?
I have a 1993 Toyota Tercel with the wiper control on the left control lever. It has a button on the end that controls the washer function. It recently quit working. Any ideas about how to fix it? I am totally inept at anything mechanical so any step by step instructions for the complete idiot would be greatly appreciated.

A: The washer pump has probably failed. To change it, you need to lift the front of the car, and remove the splash shield in front of the left front wheel to access the bottom of your windshield washer tank (what you pour the washer fluid into). The pump is installed "press fit" in the bottom of the washer tank. Just unplug the hoses, unplug the wire connector, and pull the pump out. Then just push the new pump in and reconnect the hoses and wire.

Q: Need Help with Dead Tercel?
Hey have a 1993 toyota tercel a few days ago while driving it, it stoped running. at first i started to think it was a battery problem but realized that the lights were working. so i tryed to restart it it just sounded like it does every time i try to start it just the engine does not turn over. So i thought lets try to push start it and that did not work. i then replaced the cap and roter and the plugs and the fuel filter. all of these were sugustions from auto shop people none of them worked. i tried to see if i could get spark and nothing happened. someone thought that i might be the timming belt and it is one of those the timing belt goes the engin is shot. so i looked at it and it is fine. I am wondering if i could some suggestions on the possible fixes. the starter u can hear running Thank you all i just talk to my uncle and he found a distibuter off of an old engine i had in my car and it fired up. but i guess i did not connect my fuel correctly and now it is leaking gas all over the place. thanks again for the help correction Fuel filter

A: if you are not getting spark it could be bad coil but you also say the engine does not turn over and that sounds like a starter problem. i would try crossing the points on the starter solenoid and see if it starts then. turn on the key and make sure the car is in park if an automatic or in neutral with the emergency brake on if it is a standard.
