Q: will parts on a 1992 toyota tercel fit on a 1994 tercel?
i have a 1994 tercel that needs work(not engine work). i found a 1992 with a blown engine for a few hundred and i would like to eather swap the engine or just the parts i need. i just wana know what parts will and/or will not work with the swap of parts or engine. thanks.

A: if both have a auto or manual trans then yes. both are part of the forth generation model that ran from 1991-1994. all models came with a 1.5L 4cyl

Q: What's a reasonable selling price for a 1992 Toyota Tercel that needs a new engine (car is not running)?
Considering how old the car is, besides the above issue, is in great shape. It has about 120,000 miles on it. I need to sell it and have no idea how much it might be worth... Thanks so much!

A: YOU'LL have to pay THEM to haul it away.

Q: Did I get a good deal on this 1992 Toyota Tercel, it has100k miles its clean in and out?
A/C is not working though, no leaks and runs perfect, I paid $1600 at a used dealer, I have them 800 and the the rest in payments, total with dmv paperwork and taxes was $2200.

A: Too bad about the AC. Yeah, I'd drop $1600 on a '92 Tercel, even if it had no AC installed. Get the AC fixed and you've got a super-economical ride there. The Tercel is definitely not fast, not flashy - it has nothing special going for it at all. On the upside, Toyota was really in the game when they were screwing together cars in the early 90s, so if you take even mediocre care of it, that car should last you a good, long time. Only 100K miles? Hell, it's just now getting broken-in.

Q: My 1992 toyota tercel shakes sometimes when left in drive at stoplights.?
The only way to stop it from shaking is to shift it into neutral until I'm ready to drive again. Does anyone know why it does that, and how I can fix it? It also leaks oil pretty badly, so maybe those two problems are connected. (And sometimes it doesnt want to start right away)

A: It probably needs a tune up and fuel injectors cleaned.

Q: Where are the spark plugs on my 1992 Toyota Tercel?

A: The spark plugs are located in the head of the engine. Some will be mounted through holes in the valve cover. If your engine is a 4 cylinder, look along the side of the engine nearest the front of the vehicle. If it's a V6, the spark plugs will be on both sides of the engine.

Q: How do you replace license plate bulb on Toyota Tercel,1992?

A: ok to do this you got to sit on the floor in front of the back bumper. when you look up at the back liscense plate you should see two seperate plastic things that are clear. some have two philips screws others just clip on. either way you have to take out the screws then try to move then to one side or the other..left to right and pull down. this should free them so they come down. once there down twist the top part of them where you see the plastic holders for the lights that go into them. once they come off you can simply pull them off the bulbs. there usually 194 light bulbs remember this number because autozone sell them for like 3 bucks. all you need is to remember 194 there sold as a pair so it brings two bulbs in one pack. once you have them just plug them in by pushing them in. then twist the holders back on. then push the whole thing back up and put on the screws. this is exactly how to do it. anything else you need to know about tercels just ask. i had one and i know how to replace almost everything on it.

Q: can anyone tell the easiest way to change the power steering and alternator belts on a 1992 toyota tercel.?
what nuts, bolts, pulleys,etc.,etc. do i need to loosen , remove etc., etc., to change out the belts. please don't tell me to go buy a book. i'm mechanically inclined but i need help on this one. i really don't want to take it to a mechanic unless its my last straw . thanks for any help.

A: Loosen the top and bottom bolt on the alternator and then remove the alternator belt. Loosen the power steering pump and the belt tensioner which is located to the right of the pully. Then take off the belt and reverse the order for installation. The tricky part is the alternator belt as you will need 2 people or long srewdriver to get the belt tight.

Q: Key Blank for 1992 Toyota Tercel - I need one! The generics don't work - I need a "real" Toyota Tercel Blank?

A: go to a toyota dealer

Q: 1992 toyota tercel, 192,000 miles smokes alot from the tailpipe after an oil change.?
They told me that the car is burning the oil, and that is why it is smoking. however they estimate a cost of $800 to fix. Is there anything else that can be done?

A: Sounds to me like you have a huge build-up of sludge int he engine. When you change the oil, the fresh detergents are trying to solvate the goo around your valve stem seals. First, open your oil filler cap and turn it over. Is it coated with brown gooey or black flaky deposits? The whole inside of your engine will look just the same. Also, look down inside under the oil filler cap. use your fingernail to scrape. Is it like chocolate cookies?? Remove your valve cover and using a toothbrush, spray and clean out the visible muck with "Power Tune" (a chemical cleaner found at Mercury boat stores) The foaming action will remove the hardened deposits and hopefully restore healthy operation of the valve stem seals. Put the valve cover back on. Spray the rest of the chemical into the crankcase. Drive the car for 2 days, spiritedly but not harshly. The combination of heat and the cleaning chemical should restore things to like new condition. Change the oil with a fresh genuine Toyota filter using Mobil high mileage oil. After 3 months, change it again. This time use Mobil One synthetic. This will avert further lube system breakdowns and keep oil vapors to a minimum. Be sure that your PCV valve and it's hoses are clean (use spray Gum-out). Also, clean out your throttle body with same. While you're at it, go to a do-it-yourself car wash and clean the entire engine bay, especially the space between the radiator and A/C condenser. A clean engine is a happy engine. Be sure to use a good clean fuel like Mobil, every time. This will keep carbon deposits to a minimum. Good Luck!! E-mail me with your results.

Q: my 1992 toyota tercel STD requires P145/80R13 tires?
I put in a search at tire URL's and the search comes up they don't have any in stock. is this a unusual size tire? billy t my car is a Toyota Tercel STD Douglas? wish this wasn't so confusing walmart says same thing and they don't have any kelly _f_ thanks I sure hope so. bit pilsman I'll check it out i hope that won't make my speedometer off

A: I think you could use a 165/70R13. Tirerack.com shows a 175/70 13 will work. That's a little over and inch wider. ADDED: It will affect speedometer just a bit at higher speeds, but if you are worried, have a friend go 35 and 55 while you follow, then you'll know. Tirerack also showed the 155/80 as the correct tire for your car.

Q: Approx. how much $ could I expect to get for a 1992 Toyota Tercel needing a new engine and is NOT running? TY!

A: if you can find someone who actually wants to put an engine in it your lookig at 200-400 depending on the market you are in. but your best bet may be to take it to a junkyard where you can probably get 100-250 for its parts

Q: What can I do to improve my 1992 Toyota Tercels hill climbing abilities
I recently bought the little tercel and noticed that when climbing a grade, halfways up it, the car slow to 50 miles per hour and I'm on the last lane holding up traffic, what can I do? does the car need a tune up or is this normal? car has only 101k miles on it now,

A: Its got a tiny engine and no power. Downshifting to a lower gear is about your only option. Common problem for all underpowered cars.
