Q: Should I buy a 1987 Toyota Tercel Hatchback?
I have a limited icome and found a 1987 Toyota Tercel hatchback with 180,000Kms ( 112,000 miles) for sale for $2,000 Canadian.It has very little rust and comes with a 6 month warrenty? Any-one out there have one? An opinion?
A: They are very reliable,but does seem a little pricey..Timing belts being changed every 80,000 miles is an absolute must!I owned one for two years and it was overall a good vehicle:)

Q: Where does the thermal flasher go on a 1987 toyota tercel?
The blinkers and hazards are out on my 87 toyota tercel and it's not the bulbs, box fuses or wiring (tested). I have the new part (thermal flasher 12 volt 2 terminal plug-in), but can't find the old one. I've looked under the steering column and I've found 3 and 4 pronged- but not the 2 pronged.
this is the part we looked up for at autozone specific to my car and this problem- it should be right for both blinkers and flashers. i watched him look it up and he looked up the right car. i just can't find where in the car the old flasher is so I can replace it.
A: if both your blinkers and flashers don't work then you may have a different part usually for safety reason the flashers and turn signals are on different flashers sometimes they have a flasher with three terminals for both circuits(two flashers in one body) make sure you have power to the flasher as it may be a blown fuse if it is ground side switching

Hi I have a toyota tercel GP 1987 1.5 Turbo Intercooled and i just upgraded the turbo to a T4 But it dosent idle but i can get flames out the pipe whats wrong cus it goes really hard now i can go like 240ks before i could just hit 180
OH and the boost is any think cus i took the turbo vammcum hose off
A: Put the vacuum hose back on.
Get a proper boost controller. And remap your car's ecu.
Nevermind the fact that there was no reason to upgrade to a turbo that size.
Q: Toyota Heating problem?
Hi I have a Tercel 1987. I was having overheating problems so I changed the thermostat. I tested the car couple of times and still overheating problems. I was going to change the water pump next since I heard noise coming from it. I filled my car with just water (no coolant) just to test it.
Now I try to turn it on the car just has hard time turning on. If it turns on it shakes a lot. I tried to turn it on without the radiator cap and the water jumps like crazy. It started to leak massive amounts of water in the front of the engine. I dont even see a water hose there. I hope I have not destroyed the engine. I made sure that I never ran the car hot. And when I was seeing these problems I immediately turned the car off. I also bought a new radiator cap at NAPA. Any help is appreciated. I dont know what to try /test.
A: You have a blown headgasket, all the symptoms are exactley what happens when ones goes.
Check your oil you may have water in it.
It will look like a milk shake, do not run the car anymore, you can blow the motor if you hydrolock it, or bend a rod.
