A wierd question I know but I want to fix my speedometer, I was swapping the stock lights in my instrument cluster with LEDs and I was extremly careful the first couple of times I dismantled the housing around the cluster but the third time when every thing was back together I noticed the needle dropped about 20mph below zero so my speedo reads 20mph slower than Im actually going. Im not sure what happend I just want to know how can I get back there to work on it, and how to fix it. Any imput would be greatly appreciated thanks.
A: you probably bent the needle take it apart again and move the up and let go back down by itself if it doesnot then you bent it try to straiten it out
Q: My car makes a clicking.grinding noise when I make a turn, why?
I own a 1986 Toyota Tercel Wagon, and I just got the front axle and CV joints replaced as well as a wheel bearing replaced. Break shoes and such have been replaced within the last year. Every time I turn while pressing on the gas, the car makes a clicking/grinding noise (more so when I turn left). When I am not on the gas, just coasting around a turn, there is no noise. It will make the noise when I turn right, but it has to be a real deep right turn. The left, it starts when I turn the steering wheel /about/ 20 degrees.
I know that it is an old car, but is has been so good to me, so ANY suggestions would be much appreciated.
A: Very good description! That is CLASSIC left outer CV joint description. CV joints have balls that slide back and forth inside. The sharper you turn the wheel, the more the balls slide. And when you accelerate, the tremendous load applied makes the balls hang up on any grooves worn in the housing, hence the popping noise. A wheel bearing will make a moaning sound which gets louder with speed. It is POSSIBLE that the axle retaining nut is loose, but that generally makes more noise when taking off. More than likely, you had a remanufactured axle put in. If the CV housing looked good when remanufactured, they might have left it, and you inherited the problem/noise. I recommend you take it back to your installer and have them check it. Most axles carry a 1 year warranty.
Q: what all would i have to change to fit a newer tranny in a older car?
its all for a 1986 Toyota Tercel , lookin at newer trannys like 92 and up
A: A '92 transvestite is only 16 years old and is illegal for you to do anything with in most states. I would suggest trying an early 1990 model or older. These usually dress with much less better taste and clash less with your cars looks.
I would suggest that you get a new hair do and wear slightly more butch clothing, this will usually allow you to get a tranny that better fits with your style.
Q: Do I have a chance at love?
It's so frustratring because I'm homeless and I live out of my car. I live in a 1986 Toyota Tercel. Should I let someone love me?
A: Yeah, I think everyone has a chance at love.
You live in a car thats better than nothing. You should be thankful of what you have even though you deserve better.
You deserve someone to love and to love you back. Even if it is just friends and family for now.
So get out of your car, find a job, save money, find a place to live and then find that someone special.
