Q: How much will it cost to fix a 2-inch scratch on the tailgate of a 2005 silver Toyota Tacoma?
Car: 2005 Toyota Tacoma, Silver Scratch: About 2-inches on the tailgate

A: The color or size of the scratch doesn't really matter, the whole tailgate must be painted anyway. Generally speaking, it cost on average of about $250.00 to $300.00 to refinish one panel. If there are any emblems or lettering on the gate, you'll most likely have to pay for new ones. Sometimes they can be retaped or glued back on, but at most shops it takes more time than it's worth to do that.

Q: Anyone know how to turn off the valet mode in a 2005 Toyota Tacoma?
I had my oil changed and now the alarm system is disabled. I found what I believe is the valet switch but haven't had any luck. Also, tried turning the key to acc and off 3 times like Toyota said & no luck. I think there must be a way to do it with the remote???

A: You're probably doing it too fast, slow down.

Q: I put bigger tires on my 2005 Toyota Tacoma but then i hit 40-60 mph and my steering wheel starts to shake?
my steereing shakes for 10 seconds then stops then comes back......what should i do ? has anyone experienced this problem before?

A: Everyone has already said "get them balanced" the "Correct" answer is "Get a steering stabilizer" Large tires just don't balance properly as there is WAY to much sidewall flex at higher speeds.

Q: When should I change the timing chain on my 2005 Toyota Tacoma V6 automatic?

A: general rule is 90000-100,000 miles do to stretch of the chain, it will rattle when it is due, unlike a belt which makes no noise at all until it has a complete failure with no warning.

Q: i have a 2005 toyota tacoma and it has a weak start could it be the battery?

A: yes, have the battery tested along with the charging system on your truck. the battery might be good but the alternator might not be charging it well enough to recharge it fully. also if you do a lot of short driving sometimes the alternator doesn't have enough running time to recharge the battery for the juice it lost during the starting. i dont think the dealer will charge you anything, but dont be surprised if you see like a 1/2 hr for diag time. good luck

Q: Where can I buy an overhead console with temperature and compass for a 2005 Toyota Tacoma?

A: Toyota Dealer.. The 2006 TRD package came with it....

Q: How do you change the oil filter on a 2005 Toyota Tacoma 4Cyl.?

A: Purchase the correct size filter, drain plug gasket and five quarts of oil from your local auto parts store. Crawl underneath the truck and remove the oil drain plug, drain oil into suitable container(recycle). Once oil is drained, replace drain plug using new drain plug gasket. DO NOT OVERTIGHTEN!! Then look up and find oil filter, it should be on the righthand side from underneath. Use a filter wrench of the correct size, turn the filter housing counter clockwise and remove (there will still be several ounces of oil in the filter, so be careful). Remove new filter from box, wipe a thin film of new clean oil on the black rubber gasket and install by turning it clockwise until hand tight. Then apply the filter wrench and give it another quarter turn, DO NOT OVERTIGHTEN!! Open oil filler cap on top of engine, that's the one that says Oil! Using a funnel add 3.5 - 4 quarts. Check the level, if level is okay start engine and run for approximately 1-3 minutes. Turnoff engine and crawl back underneath and check for leaks, if no leaks, check level and top off with oil to the mark. If you find any leaks retighten the leaking item and run engine again 1-3 minutes, recheck for leaks.

Q: 2005 Toyota Tacoma poor AM radio reception, infact no AM radio reception?
I just purchased a 2005 Tacoma, I am getting no radio recetion on the AM band. The previous owner had the radio pre-wired for XM satilte radio, could that be causing the AM to not work. I was under the impression that they work seperate. Any suggestions would be appriciated. thanks

A: OK sounds like your problem is in the xm modulator .some where there is a box that is tapped in to your antenna probably right behind the radio take the box out and hook the antenna straight to the radio.

Q: 2005 Toyota Tacoma Mechainal Question?
I drive a 2005 SR5 Toyota Tacoma 4 Cylinder Access Cab I changed my oil, and my maintence required light is STILL on, the book said start your car while holding the trip odometer reseter, that didn't work any ideas???

A: word for word out of the owners manual (page 152) it does state to start your truck it says turn your ign. on. make sure its in odometer not trip "A" or "B" Engine Oil Replacement Reminder Light (for vehicles sold in U.S.A.) This light acts as a reminder to replace the engine oil. This light will come on when the ignition key is turned to “ON” and will go off after about a few seconds. When you drive for about 7200 km (4500 miles) after the engine oil replacement, this light illuminates for about 3 seconds and then flashes for about 12 seconds with the ignition key turned to the “ON” position. If you continue driving without replacing the engine oil, and if the distance driven exceeds 8000 km (5000 miles), the light will come on after the ignition key is turned to “ON” position. The light will remain on thereafter. If the light is flashing, we recommend that you replace the engine oil at an early opportunity depending on the driving and road conditions. If the light comes on, replace it as soon as possible. The system must be reset after the engine oil replacement. Reset the system by the following procedure: 1. Turn the ignition key to the “OFF” position with the odometer reading shown. (For details, see “Odometer and two trip meters” on page 145 in this Section.) 2. Turn the ignition key to the “ON” position while holding down the trip meter reset knob. Hold down the knob for at least 5 seconds. The odometer indicates “000000” and the light goes off. If the system fails to reset, the light will continue flashing

Q: Sqweeking noise in 2005 Toyota Tacoma?
My 2005 Tacoma has a sqweeking noise on very windy days or if I am traveling between 70 to 80 miles per hour.

A: wheres the squeaks comming from? It sounds like you have an air draft comming from your windows or doors since this only happens on a windy day or when your moving quickly, but it would make a whistling noise. Check your weather stripping around your windows, the seal around your windsheild and the rear window. If your rear window opens, the draft may be comming from there. **ADDED** Its not an emergency brake cable.
