I am looking for timing specifications and reinstallment factors for the timing gears, chains, and timing cover for a 1997 toyota tacoma 4wheel drive pickup motor size 3RZFE. Where can I find information pertaining to this?
A: GO TO YOUR LOCAL LIBRARY AND LOOK AT THE CHILTON'S MANUAL THAT COVERS YOUR TOYOTA. IT WILL ALL BE THERE.
MY PERSONAL OPINION IS THAT THE WRECKING YARD WOULD BE THE BEST PLACE FOR ANY TOYOTA. I HAVE OWNED THREE IN MY LIFE AND ALL THREE WERE JUNK. JUST MY OPINION

Q: How hard is it to change a clutch on a 2WD 1997 Toyota Tacoma pickup truck? How much would it cost?
A: to a mechanic a clutch job on any truck 2wd is gravy work we love those the clutch kit can run anywhere from 100 to 200 i would go to local toyota dealer as they will probably have it in stock and ur getting the best quality of part how ever 97 would kinda have a few gm influences as toyota and gm have been friends since 92 when GEO came around so u could go with an AC delco clutch too neways its simple if u know what ur doing no u dont need a come along its not a semi support the front of the vehicle by jack stand as high as u can go. ull need all the room u can get next drop the drive shaft watch for gear lube out of the output shaft of the tranny with the truck at an angle u will loose alittle the motor is supported from the side dont worry about it next remove any crossmembers under the tranny out of the way with the tranny at an angle remove wiring harness speed sensor wires ect. then go inside the truck remove shift lever the remove tranny bolts from tranny support tranny with a jack and pull and drop tranny then R and R clutch throw out bearing and pilot bushing installation is reverse of removal. the pilot bushing is trick use a socket and some axel grease stuff the axel grease in the pilot bushing hole in the back of the crank using ur finger make sure u fill the socket with grease put an extension in the socket make sure socket fits snug in pilot bushing hole then with a hammer hit the extension as principles of hydraulics cant compress a fluid will force the pilot bushing out may have to hit and refill several times to make sure there is no air between the crank and pilot bushing u want that space full of grease and u do not want grease to come out between the socket and the bushing hole make sure its as tight as it can be or just use slide hammer and the right adapter. also make sure u put grease around the input shaft of tranny before install this will make them slide together easier and make sure u use the alignment tool to align cluch disc to crank hope this helps
Q: Why is my Toyota Tacoma 1997, auto four cylinder so sluggish?
108,000 miles, hard to get to freeway speeds, trans seems OK,pedal to the floor and not much faster than 75mph. On inclines seems engine should rev-up or downshift or both. Seems not enough range in the accelerator pedal.
A: Maybe the over-drive has gone bad. My 1998 did at about 110,000 cost me about $250 to get it fixed, and it drove better and got good gas mileage again.

A: If the recall came from Toyota then tack to the dealership they responsible for inspection and or repair.
Q: I need a 1997 Toyota Tacoma (2.7 liter) IAC valve (automatic air control valve)?
I called the Toyota store and they said that it was $220.63 for a new one, and that the part number is 22270-75040. I want one a little cheaper. But I can't find one on eBay! I did, however, find one that replaces Toyota part numbers 22270-7471, 22270-74291, and 22270-74090. Is this close enough? Will it work if I buy it?
A: Here is the site I use to get some of my factory Toyota Parts for my customers. It will have what you need and be much cheaper than the local dealer unless you have a commercial account.

It's listed for $165 + shipping

Q: Does a lift kit for a 1996-2004 Toyota Tacoma fit on a 1997 Toyota 4runner SR5?
A: I highly doubt it...
I'm working on memory here, so don't quote me, but I think the 4Runner has coil spring suspension in the rear where the Tacoma has leaf springs... .big difference.
If you really want to screw up your 4Runner by lifting it, keep looking around at different manufacturers. I'm sure sooner or later you will find a kit for your application. I'm not trying to talk you out of lifting your Runner.... but they are top heavy to start with... the first time you have to make an abrupt lane change on the interstate, it could just fall over on you....
I hope this helps....
Good luck

Q: toyota tacoma PLEASE HELP?
i am thinking of buying a 1997-2003 toyota tacoma with 250000 miles, auto trans, and 3.4 v6 how many mpg would i get.
then say i put a 3 inch body lift, 32 inch tires on it with the same miles on the truck then how many mpg would i get?
so please give me mpg 1 and 2
best answer 5 stars
A: With an unlifted V6 you'll probably get about 19-21 MPG with mostly highway driving. With a 3" lift you'll get 2-3 MPG less. I would probably regear to gain that MPG back. But you have to remember you'll be driving a truck and not a passenger car, so there can be no comparison between the 2.
You may want to head on over to toyotanation.com and do some reading on their forums too.
Q: Kumho Road venture mt kl71 tires on a toyota tacoma?
The Kumho road venture m/t KL71 tire looks like a pretty good tire but i can't find any pictures of them on a toyota tacoma. I have a 1996 ext. cab Tacoma with a 3" susp. and 3" body lift and i'm looking for an inexpensive mud terrain tire with good tread wear and comes in 33x12.5R15. The kumho KL71 fits the bill. If you know of any or have pictures of them on a 1995-1997 tacoma i'd like to see them. Thanks.
A: *** I have always used, as has everyone I've ever wheeled with B.F.G. Mud Terrains. Our terrain is Rocky, and Muddy, with wintertime snow. Maybe a little sand once in awhile. They have great street wear, don't hum a lot, and actually the tread-ground contact, is not as much as a lot of the off-road tires. The best thing about this tire is it is really tough, yet its not stiff at all!... Its a very supple tire, and when airing down to 3-5 lbs. or even lower, I've gone down to 1-2 lbs many times, and never lost a bead. ( I don't have bead locks either) The tires look good, with a aggressive tread, and have actual two tread patterns that are the "Mud T." ...with or without, sidewall tread. The ones with the sidewall tread are great for sand. They will last you longer than most any other tire on the market, and since they are the top rated off road tire, there is a lot of demand, so therefore a lot of supply, and you should be able to pick them up for a pretty good price, average cost. Keep an eye out for deals, they are always on sale.
I have 4 Toyota's ..All 4x4's one is a Tacoma, I know about 50 people with Toyotas all trail worthy and I would say 45 out of 50 are running the BFG Muds. ***
