Q: Can anyone tell me how much insurance would be for a 16yr old driving a black 1997 toyota supra?
under my parents name and prolly full coverage. my moms 42 if that helps any. ok i don't get grate grades i failed 1 class but have bs and cs everywere else. im an average student.

A: Not as much as a red 1997 toyota supra

Q: I want to put a t61 single turbo into a 1997 toyota supra non-turbo?
would it effect the life of my car if it already has 120k miles on it?

A: Yes. You're upping the cylinder pressure on already worn rings. Non turbo engine has different pistons(bit lower compression to keep from detonating). Turbo's also generate a bit more engine heat and will need more fuel to compensate for the added air. Anything is possible if done right but the turbo itself is just the tip of the iceberg...(injectors, intake system, wire harness, computer--it adds up.)

Q: I bought a 1997 Toyota Supra Turbo and Im wondering if I should fix it or leave it original??
Its a 6 speed manual, 3.0 L and has only 12,100 miles on it...

A: That car is fairly rare and low miles - I'd leave it alone, it has potential to be a classic over time. The only things I'd consider changing is stuff you can change back, maybe wheels/tires (keep the originals), stuff like that. That car is fast enough - enjoy it as is!

Q: Should I get a 1997 Toyota Supra or a 1997 Nissan 240sx?

A: Supra

Q: Question about 1997 and 98 Toyota Supra ?
i was wondering is there really a big difference between the 1997 and 1998 Toyota supra? And which is the better one to tune?

A: there is not difference the last year of the us mk4 (93-98) Was 1997 the 15th anniversary edition all the 98s are the left over 97s that were sent to the us in 1998. Them made the japan right hand drive ones until 2001 but all those stayed in japan. For tuning these cars possibilities are endless but expensive. They are 3.0 in line six motors (2JZ) they can be made up to around 1300 hp that's with a 3.4 stroker.

Q: a 1997 Honda NSX vs. a 1997 Toyota Supra TT (both stock ... welll ... alomost)?
I recently bought a 1997 Honda NSX (the only upgrade its got is a cold air intake) which is in my opinion is an excellent car (if I had to choose between a ZO6 or an NSX I'd still have the NSX), its balanced, it ride excellent, the gear box is amazing, its got a very comfortable and decent interior, etc... but my friend keeps criticizing me that I've bought the wrong car, he wanted me to buy a Supra TT instead and I'll be honest I do not like the way the Supra looks. and furthermore the Supra Twin Turbo has 326 bhp where as my NSX has 290 bhp (280 bhp originally, I wasted so much cash at the dyno just to find out that I've increased another 10 horses .. Idiot? yep very much) but in a straight the Supra is still kinda slower to the NSX in terms of top speed and acceleration. my question is that can anybody tell me a few advantages and dis-advantages of the Supra TT over my car before I die due to his constant criticism, I am familiar with how good the 2JZ-GTE Supra TT engine is ... your help will be appriciated and here are a few pictures of my car. http://i210.photobucket.com/albums/bb273/linkin_soldier8/Photo-0049.jpg http://i210.photobucket.com/albums/bb273/linkin_soldier8/Photo-0047.jpg http://i210.photobucket.com/albums/bb273/linkin_soldier8/Photo-0045.jpg http://i210.photobucket.com/albums/bb273/linkin_soldier8/Photo-0042.jpg http://i210.photobucket.com/albums/bb273/linkin_soldier8/Photo-0040.jpg

A: Among the Japanese "280ps" machines the Supra is known as the torque king, and little other than that. It never held the crown of fastest JDM during its production period. Instead of looking at acceleration times and skidpad G's or other individual quantitative measurements you should be looking at track times to get the idea of cumulative performance taking the whole car into account. The NSX is consistently a winner against the Supra on both Japanese domestic tracks as well as the Nurburgring. Your 3.2L NSX is one of the best acheivements of the Japanese automotive industry and is respected not only in Asia but also in the Americas and in Europe. The same really cannot be said of the Supra. Although the Supra is a nice car it never really challenged Ferarri or Porsche during its heyday like the NSX did. It wasn't nearly as technologically advanced either and certainly did not have the scope and caliber of owners like the NSX - Aryton Senna, Alex Zanardi, Eddie Jordan, Rick Mears, Gordon Murray, Keichi Tsuchiya, Bobby Rahal, Paul Tracy, Jimmy Vasser, Jenson Button, and more. I don't want to drag on for too long, but I think you let your friend get to you when you shouldn't have. You own a superior car to the Supra and there is little any true car enthusiast can do to prove otherwise.

Q: 1997 Toyota Supra Turbo?
I found a 1997Toyota Supra Turbo Limited Edition with 50000 original miles on it and the car looks like it is in good shape all stock except rims, the guy wants $35000 for it and I was wondering if that is a good price because I know theses days people are selling Supras for like $50-60 thousand for a Supra with low mileage on it.

A: Heck no ! You can buy or make a better car for that money.

Q: is a 'great condition' 1997 Toyota Supra worth $20,000? Why did they stop making them? Any known defects?

A: That's generally about the price I've seen them for at least if they're turbo. They have an in-line 6 in them not a V-6 as stated by someone else. Toyota stopped making all there sports cars over the past several years. Sports car buyers are only a small percentage of the market so they stopped making all their sports cars. Their new line up focuses primarily on fuel economy. Toyota is synonymous with reliabilty, and to my knowledge the only reason they no longer make the Supra is because sports cars aren't top sellers.

Q: whats best nos system for 1993-1997 toyota supra turbo?
whats best nos system? NOS? ZEX? also is it best to be dry or wet?

A: NOS man there is no other choice

Q: If your running 775 hp on a stock camshaft and axel on a 1995-1997 Toyota Supra, should you replace them?
I will have this much horsepower, i have a turbo (Boost Logic GT67) a new computer (Pretuned AEM EMS by the SupraStore.com) and a new fuel system (Origins Unknown =P) but i wannna know if I should replace the stock axel and camshaft... i have a budget and if i have to, i might have to sacrifice the body kit. Dont worry, im not RICE-ing it out to hardcore, just a highish body kit with a low carbon fibre wing and hood. Quicksilver paintjob. Thanks; Dallas ZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ OMG PEOPLE IM NOT RUNNING THIS THE CAR ISNT EVEN BUILT YET IM A ROOKIE AND AM JUST ASKING A SIMPLE QUESTION BTW: SUPRAS CAN SUPPORT 1400+ HP PROVEN WITH THEIR 2JZ-GTE ENGINE SO SHUT UP ABOUT FACTORY "SUPERCARS" AND STOP ACTING LIKE YOU HAVE A TUNER CAR SHOVED UP YOUR ASS AND EMBRACE THAT THEY ARE FASTER THAN FERRARI'S FOR A QUATER OF THE PRICE!!!!!

A: Quote: Peter - "775 Horsepower? That is more than if even a BIG IF. A supercharged 7.0 liter Corvette delivers 504HP A supercharged V12 Brabus Mecredes delivers 640HP Both these cars are ultimate in the latest technology regarding their powerplants now what's this about a 775HP supra and a stock cam? Somebody dropped the dyno sensor off a two story building. I doubt you could fit any motor in that vehicle that could oh wait, and its a Toyota motor too.. LOL oh my hehe that is funny!" A supercharged Corvette is "the ultimate in latest technology"?!? Ha ha ha ha ha ha! The ultimate in latest technology would be the Lamborghini Gallardo LP560/4 motor (552 horsepower from a naturally aspirated 5.2 litre V10 engine that happily revs to over 8000 RPM), or the Bugatti Veyron motor. Peter knows absolutely nothing about cars, or the modification of them. For starters, the Brabus V12 car is twin turbo, not supercharged. The Corvette motor is very old technology, using an nefficient and nosy old technology air pump to increase horsepower to an acceptable level. Completely disregard anything he ever says about cars. Just upgrading the computer, "fuel system" and putting a bigger turbo in your Supra will not enable you to make 775 horsepower. For starters, you will need to run about 3 bar (45psi) of boost to make that kind of power with stock capacity, compression ratio and revs. The standard bottom end could not reliably support that kind of load. The standard intake, exhaust and intercooling system will all be much too restrictive, and the camshafts will need changing. For that kind of horsepower, if you want the car to be street drivable you should really be looking at something like a JUN 3.4 litre stroker kit with a custom (higher, around 9:1) compression ratio, upgraded cams, full engine rebuild with tougher bearings etc., custom intake and exhaust and a high flow large volume intercooler. Then the tunable ECU and upgraded ignition system, probably twin fuel pumps, BIG injectors (850cc plus) in an aftermarket fuel rail, pressure regulator and bigger fuel lines. You'll need to upgrade the clutch (multiplate). As you said the Getrag 6 speed gearbox is tough enough, but you may smash the cv's in the driveshafts if you are too rough with the car, especially if you put extra wide sticky tyres on it. I'm not sure about the tailshaft though. As for the bodykit, forget about it altogether. 99% of body kits look terrible, are heavy, increase drag, and actually decrease downforce.

Q: Toyota supra 1997?
hello i am wondering what are some known problems for this year i am looking to buy one, what should ilook for. thanks

A: Nice choice. The Supra is a very good car to tune. Depending on what you're planning to do, it may be a good or bad idea. If you plan on modifying it heavily and building the engine...go for it no matter what the mileage or condition. Those things can be fixed later. If you just want a pretty car, be sure you're ready for the commitment. A car that age will probably need the stock twins replaced or rebuilt by now, and depending on how it was driven, the stock short block might need some refreshing. Do your research and be careful. Also, don't get suckered into buying one for 30K+ when its kbb value is only 16K. Many people seem to be falling for this, and I feel sorry for them. It's a great car, but buying a 10-15 year old car with 80K+ miles for the same price as a new 350Z is retarded. Best of luck!

Q: Will a toyota supra engne fit on a honda 1997 civic ex if so what year engine.?
planing to put that engine if it possible since it hard to find that car and it is very expensive. So if it possible i would like to put it in my car and what would i need to change in my car.

A: The Supra engine is longitudinally mounted(front to back) and the Toyota Supra is rear wheel drive. So it would not fit without basically making the car rear wheel drive. I suggest you become more experienced in mechanics before attempting ANY sort of swap without help from someone who has done a one before.

Q: opening gas lid on a '97 toyota supra?
I recently got a 1997 toyota supra from a dealer in N tx. it didn't have a manual with it and we realised now that we're back home that we dont know where the gas lid release lever is lol. This hopefully isn't too hard of a question to answer, but i'd really appreciate any help, thanks!

A: the lever for the fuel door is right in front of the left front seat on the floor next to the front seat attachment bolt.

Q: Toyota Supra, To Buy OR Not To Buy?
Hello, i am in the process of obtaining a 1997 Toyota Supra with only 42,465 miles on the engine, automatic trans and a twin turbo. Price:$5400 the only thing is that it is located in Miami and i am in toronto. the seller has explain that if i dont like the car when it is delivered(cover by seller) i can just say no and it will be shipped back. To BUY or not To BUY

A: I would be very suspect of that car at that price - it should be much higher - many times that price, in fact. Why so cheap? damaged, salvage title? Stolen? (that's my guess). There has to be something wrong with it. Do a carfax for sure. There's an old saying - if something seems too good to be true, it probably is.

Q: Toyota Supra Parts?
I'm looking for parts for my 1997 toyota supra TT. I want to make it into an EXTREMELY fast street car, but with the change of a few parts also one of the fastest cars on a drag strip as well. I don't care about cost. Could someone put together a parts list from stock to moddified, and tell me what kind of power to expect. I want to break 1000 horsepower, without use of nos

A: I am really sorry but the Supra won't break a 1000hp with the change of a "few" parts. You will end up spending at least $15-$30K to break that kind of power. I have a 94' and am only making a safe 600. Here is a list of my Supra's parts. Innovative 61mm turbo Tial 44mm wastegate Boost Logic manifold Homemade 4in downpipe and full exhaust Greddy 4 row intercooler Two Greddy Type-R BOV's Virtual Works intake Q45 throttle body Two Walbro 255's RC 750cc injectors HKS .275 cams Tilton carbon clutch AEM ECU (tunned by Justin Nenni) If you change out the turbo to maybe a GT45 or T6 size and the injectors to 1000cc or larger and a new tune you might come damn close to a grand to the wheels.
