Q: 1990 Toyota Supra Power Steering?
I have a 1990 supra turbo and the rack and pinion has gone out on it, i went to a parts place and they told me that it has 2 different parts avaliable, one with emf and one without. i looked at pictures of them and i couldn't tell a difference. is there a way to find out which one it is?
A: I couldn't find EMF in Toyoto information, but the 90 Supra had an option with or without Progressive Power Steering, or PPS. A PPS model has a solenoid called a Pressure Control Valve built onto the housing for the pinion of the Rack and Pinion. If necessary, you could put a non PPS in place of one with it and it would work, but it won't do you any good to go the other way. Look for an electrical connection on the vertical part of the steering gear. That will identify it as having PPS.
Q: 1990 Toyota Supra Turbo?
Ok i just bought a 1990 Toyota Supra Turbo
about a week ago and its super amazing, i couldnt
ask for a better car.
But i was reading that the headgaskets go out really easy....
When it does what exactly happens? How much is a new one?
And how much would it cost to have them install it?
Also what are some minor upgrades/parts you guys suggest in
the performance criteara? Like what should i buy first?
A: The head gasket is between the head and block. When it goes bad, coolant seeps into the cylinders. That's bad not only because it fouls the combustion, but the loss of coolant could over heat the engine and cause major damage. to the head and engine. And it could warp the head which could mean having it machined flat again or replaced. Head gaskets are a cheap part but expensive to replace.
If your worried about blowing a head gasket, I wouldn't recommend any performance mods.
Q: buying a 1990 Toyota Supra Turbo?
I'm thinking about buying a used toyota supra turbo from a private owner and was wondering what type of questions to ask and wat to look out for on the car. and general information like how well the turbo's last over time and overall preformance of the car over time.
A: well its awesome car i have one my self you need to ask first it it has had a head gasket done yet that is the main thing. then just normal things about a used car how many miles and thing like that i would like to see the ad if you have it and mabey a pic with his asking price to help you get a good deal.
Q: I have a 1990 Toyota Supra. The rear hatch rattles when going over bumps. Is there a fix to this problem?
A: the gasket is worn. replace it and re adjust the hatch latch. it has re adjustment screws. on the latch itself.
Q: whats wrong with my 1990 toyota supra ???!?!?!?!?
heres the deal i replaced the altenator and battery changed spark plugs and wires on my non turbo 1990 toyota supra at idle my altenator isnt charging the battery i beileve that this is the reason my check engine light is on , when im driving the voltage is only at about 14 volts i didnt do a voltage drop test yet but i wanted to get some ideas first
A: 14 volts is very good. that's more than you need. if your car isn't dying..then alternator is good. here's a test...with car running, disconnect the battery + wire. if car runs, then alternator is working. if you can't seem to start the vehicle, then you have issues with the starter, or the charging system (alternator, battery, starter) check all these wires closely.
Q: 1990 toyota supra for sale N/A?
i if you are in the philly P.A. area i am looking to sell my 1990 non-turbo toyota supra , the body is straight but the gas door doesnt close and is a little rough , the lower control arms have shot bushings and needs new pads the car is a dark burgendy i just repalced the clutch on the car and did plugs and wires, the car has an alarm but unfortunaltly the previous owner forgot to get me the module to unlock the doors so i dont lock them, the interior is in really good shape except for the arm rest is torn in one place, the interior is gray an the body has 148xxx miles but it has a rebuilt motor with about 12,000 miles on it this is a good sports car, even though its not turbo, it has most of the options except the turbo and targa top for more information call me at 484-477-2655 i am asking 3800 its is 5spd.
A: good luck selling your supra, if i didn't already have one i might be more intrested, but do you have the 5M-GE, 6M-GE, or the 7M-GE motor? I know it's not the 7M-GTE. I may be intrested in the motor.

Q: Toyota Supra Or Mitsubishi Eclipse?
Ok i'm looking to buy a car and i found both these cars at this carlot by my house and i got the money for both but just still debating.
1990 Toyota Supra Twin Cam Turbo, Standard - 5,995
3.0L 238hp
1995 Mitsubishi Eclipse GSX, Automatic - 7,995
2.0L 210hp
Both cars are in really nice shape, But im not sure which to buy, I want a standard really bad, there the only thing ive pretty much ever driven and will be, so thats why im going more torwards the supra, But the eclipse is in super nice condition and ive always liked them, But then again i dont know anything about eclipse?
Can anyone inform me on the downfalls and uprises on both cars? And like which is easier to upgrade in the performance criterea.
And or even which is the best buy, Money is not a problem at the moment.
A: ummmmmmmmm
actually
what you just asked was the stupidest thing i've ever heard
1. eclipses are for idiots who drive like idiots
2. supras are rare especially MKIII's
3. ^^ that means it has equity
4. ^^ that means your car could be worth something
5. eclipse's are like candy you should never pay more than pocket change for one
6. you cannot compare the HP or speed........ supras are light as F++k and stock they can do 130 mph +......... without turbo...
7. you cannot kill an Inline 6 = 7mgte........ that means you'll be driving it forever
8. if your planning on racing you can never outrun a cop with an eclipse......
9. eclipse has no sport top... and those are just bad asss
10. buy that supra or you will regret it..... eclipse 4g63 engines are quick but they also break down under hard conditions......
11. quit kidding yourself gas is expensive and my supra gets 23 hwy ouch..... but i will never buy an new car i will have this car 30 yrs from now and it will still be running strong.........
performance parts are just as cheap for supras as they are for eclipses..... but eclipses arent made for racing......
supra is plain and simple a race car..... drive it hard..... it will not sh+t on you
http://www.jscspeed.com/mk3/mk3.htm
listen to me buy the f++king supra you dumbsh+t
its no contest

Q: i was wondering if its posible to swap a twin turbo toyota supra engine into a 1990 300zx,,?
if so pls give me a website,or some pics,,thanks guys
A: Dude. You are wasting your time. So you will need to change the whole drive train you know that right? You are better off upgradeing the brain for mor hp, upgrade the fule system and the entire air system get rid of the factory crap. Look at HKS fuel managment systems. Get an engine job done. Slap some twin turbos on the monster. Change the exhaust system. For that matter just find a twin turbo engine and slap it in with the proper cooling system. research on the web. Wolfe racing in El Cajon California they can set you up.
Q: toyota supra?
ive purchased a 1990 supra only to find it is overheating in about 15 mins .any easy sollution or should i blow it ur .i know what i shoud do
A: Is it a turbo supra? If it is, and there isn't enough water, it will overheat very quickly. Turbo or not, it could be the thermostat. Also check to see, did the previous owner install an electric fan or does it have the stock belt-driven fan. If the previous owner installed an electric fan and took out the stock belt-driven fan, check to make sure that it is working properly. Another thing that could be wrong is your water pump. To check to make sure that both your water pump and thermostat are working correctly, do the following test...
With the car cold(has been sitting for a while)....
Make sure your radiator is full, if not, fill er' up.
Start your car and than take off your radiator cap. You should be able to see the coolant/water. Keep an eye on it and also keep an eye on your temperature gauge. When the car gets up to temperature, should be about 10 minutes depending on the conditions, you should start to see the water moving through the radiator. Use a flashlight to better see the water moving.
If the water never moves and your car just overheats, well than it is either your thermostat or Water pump.
Replace your thermostat first as it is the cheapest thing and probably what the problem is.
If all of the above check out and the thing still overheats, you probably have a blown head gasket. You can check this by lifting up your oil dip stick and checking the condition of the oil. If there are signs of water or gas in the oil, you will see lots of bubbles or foamy substance or it will smell like gas, than you have a blown head gasket.
The MKIII supra (your car's generation) are notorious for blown head gaskets, especially on turbo models.
Don't worry though, it is probably a $7 dollar fix. Good Luck!
Q: What upgrades do I add to my supra????????
I basically want better acceleration and more hp. I right now have a 1990 toyota supra and it does 0-60 in the 9's, which I just consider pathetic. I would like to know what modifications and upgrades I can do listed easiest to hardest inorder to get the 0-60 speed under 5 sec or atleast 6 sec. Air Intake, Cadallac converter what is the best way to get the most hp without alot of labor and money? Are there any quick upgrades and cheap modifications I can add to my supra inorder to get the 0-60 speed under 6 sec? By the way it is an automatic. tks
A: first k@n air filter , 9 or 10 mm spark plug wires, upgrade msd coil , advance timming 2 degrees trd timming belt, high performance plugs nippos or msd air flow meter adjustment careful breaks easy.trd injectors, if u want to get serious cam valves ,head work like mine 0-60 automatic 5.9 exhaust flowmaster duel , and header pipe mine had 345 hp at the wheels and 325 ft lbs torque
Q: help my car is overheating ,steam coming from the hood?
i have a 1990 toyota supra. When i parked the car in the driveway . all of a sudden i heard a loud rubber popping noise. and it started leaking coolent. i thought it was the lower radiator hose. so i changed it. now when it reaches normal temp it has steam coming near the lower radiator hose. i cant figure whats wrong. i dont want to go to a mechanic. im broke

Q: totalled my car, ins won't even pay off the loan. is there any way to get the ins to pay more?
my 1990 toyota supra turbo was in pristeen condition according to the ins co, before i wrapped it around a tree. the bluebook value is 5500 but the ins co only wants to pay 3800 and my loan is for 3900. is there any way to negotiate with them? i'm dealing with progressive.
A: KBB is worthless for determining the value of your car. Only the market (or, ACV ) can be used to establish the correct value of your car. This is based on condition, mileage and options and can either add or deduct from the bottom line. Progressive does NOT have an obligation to pay off your loan. You only option is to locate as many vehicles as near like yours as possible that are for sale in your area. List them all including contact numbers and come up with a mean average. If the avreage selling price is higher than what you have been offered then present the list to your adjuster and begin negotiations. They will either reconsider their offer or (they SHOULD) be able to explain why your vehicle isn't worth as much. Don't get your hopes up -- this is an 18 year old vehicle and $5500 is a very optimistic price.
Q: Cheapest insurance at my age?
I'm currently 16 with a 1990 Toyota Supra Turbo.

To the girl that said my car isnt worth it please know a little more about cars before you disown mine, Supras are a collectors item.
A: state farm or einsurance are both pretty cheap, dont know bout the age thing though
