Q: How much will a rebuilt transmision cost for a 2003 Toyota Solara?
My car's transmission recently started slipping and i was wondering how much it will cost me to rebuild the transmission. I was guessing that it could just be the transmission fluid or filter needing to be fixed by i'm no car expert...
A: hmm, about 3 to 5 thousand dollars, take it to a trans. specialist and get it checked out
Q: I have a 2003 toyota solara and am thinking of trading it in.?
For the past two years it has been making an annoying squealy sound as soon as i turn on the car and usually doesnt stop until i turn off the car. took it to the autobody shop and it didnt make the noise then, other people have looked at it and it doesnt make the noise when they look at it...i am not crazy, what's wrong with this car? it sounds like when I describe it, its the serpentine belt according to other people, but the autobody shop says the s. belt is fine.they can't figure out what could be the problem, anyone have any clues?
A: I had a 2003 Toyota Camry that made that squealing sound. It turned out that it was my serpentine belt. I let it go way too long and my car died/overheated in traffic. I took it to a mechanic that specializes in Toyotas. He said that Toyotas are notorious for needing belts replaced.
The parts & labor ended up costing less than $300 to fix. Hope this helps.
Q: 2003 Toyota Solara?
my friend just purchased a 2003 Toyota Solara from Carmax with only 15,500 miles on it. They said it was a previous rental. Now, knowing what I know about rental cars, Im assuming the rental company purchased this care in 2002 and kept it in there fleet of rentals until the end of 2003. Im also thinking at this time the car should have had around 15,000 to 20,000 miles on it. At this time the rental company would have sold it. At this time maybe someone purchased it. I dont know. But she just got it last week.. My question is where has the car been for the past 5 years. In order for the miles to be so low it appears that no one has driven the car in 5 years. Does this seem right. She didnt get carfax report. So now its 2008 and the car has only 15,500 miles on it.
A: Metropol makes good points. We have a 2001 with 68K on it so this mileage seems really low. Does the paper work indicate which company where it was a rental? You may be able to get service records from them. Since the car would not have been listed as an economy car but renters would have had to pay a premium to get it, it may not have been rented very often; however, that still seems too low to be true. On an older vehicle I would ask if all the numbers on the odometer line up perfectly but this has a digital display so that is no indication.
Bottom line will be whether or not the price paid was a good value for the condition. All indicators might be wrong but if it drives well and the price was right, your friend may do okay with it.

A: My best friend has a 2002 solara I've driven it and rode in it and Its a nice car. Love her leather interior. I own a toyota as well. I can't think of any dislikes other than the noise that some toyota products make.(engine when it needs a tune up . sounds like somthings loose)
Q: I changed my battery in my 2003 Toyota Camry solara it reset the memory?
and how do you get the anti theft device on the car to reset, PLEASE HELP!! my car keeps shutting off and the idling is also messing up. You must know Toyota to have the answer.
this is added to my question I took my car to Autozone and they installed it not me and this is what happened. What,s funny is it baffled them too
A: The antitheft on the radio... there is a code that came with the car when you buy it then you need to punch in the code. If you don't have it the dealership should have it.
Idling.... and shutting down. Did you place the battery in correctly?! Maybe it's another problem.

Q: Anyone like a legal challenge? Can someone help with a really complicated contract law question?
Ok - here goes. I decided to purchase a 2003 Toyota Solara from a private seller in another state. I inspected the car, found it to be in excellent condition and wrote out a check for a deposit. I obtained financing from my bank. The seller's bank received the pay-off on a Friday. That Sunday, a windstorm caused severe damage to the car. However, the title work had not been processed so I could not legally take possession of the car prior to Sunday. After speaking with insurance companies, attorneys and banks, I realized that a legal battle would be very expensive and agreed to purchase the car if the seller's insurance company agreed to pay for the repairs (which they did). My decision was heavily influenced by my bank's statement that regardless of whether I chose to take the car, I would still be responsible for my loan. It is now October 6th, and I still do not have the vehicle. My insurance company is requiring me to maintain insurance on the vehicle and I have to make loan payments on a product I don't have. I think she should offer to give me some money back because the product I will be receiving is not the product I purchased. I'm not sure if I should pursue legal action or just suck it up and take the car. Oh, and in case you're wondering, the repair company told me that the repairs will require 103 hours worth of work.
A: Legally, your loan and your car purchase are two separate entities, because you bought the car from party A but got a loan from party B. Your bank is entirely correct - they have a right to get paid whether you got the car or not, because they performed their part of the deal by lending you the money. Your only option is to sue the seller. If you sue for specific performance, you will get the car, but it could potentially cost you thousands in legal fees. Another option is to sue for rescission - he keeps the car and you get your money back. This is your best argument as the seller did not perform his end of the deal. The seller may argue that you agreed to a new contract when you agreed to let the insurance company fix your car - but you can argue that the new arrangement is not enforceable, since you did not get anything to compensate you for the extra wait. To put this in legal terms, you did not get "consideration" for the contract modification.
Bottom line - sue for rescission and get your money back (and don't forget to pay back your bank).
Q: If your check engine light comes on and you fix the prob will the light go off or do you have to take it in.?
I have a 2003 Toyota Solara that the check engine light came on. We hooked it up to a computer and it's something causing a default in the Catalyst. There is a puff of white smoke at initial ignition. So we are trying to fix the leak causing the smoke and changing out the plugs and wires.
If that fixes the problem will the Check Engine light go off or will we have to to go to a mechanic to have them reset the sensor?
Or is there a way to reset the sensor ourselves?
A: was gonna say same as above disconnect battery
touch cables...dont let cables touch batt while touching together
Q: Rattle Under the hood of my car?
I need help from experienced mechanics or any car experts.
I have a Toyota Solara 2003 with 68,000 miles. I hear rattling under my hood when I'm at a stopped and at initial acceleration (when I hit the gas pedal). However, the rattle goes away once I hit a higher speed at 10 miles or more.
I had a mechanic examined my car and he stated "it could be" the AC compressor. I'll also have another mechanic inspect it.
Basically, I don't want someone doing "guess work" and charge me an arm and leg for something that will fail to eliminate the rattle.
Any help would be appreciated. Thank you.
By the way, I had my serpentine belt replaced several months ago. Since then, the rattles have worsen.
Before the serpentine belt was replaced I heard a very small rattle. Now, my rattles is so bad, you can hear my coming from a block away. It's so embarrasing.
My car rattles with the AC is off or on. However, it's a bit more pronounced when the AC is on.
Anyway, any specific answers would be appreciated. I've heard everything from loose serpentine belt to the tension pulley, etc.
The rattle is definitely around the serpentine belt area so it's not just a loose screw.
A: Guess work is ALL I can do without physically inspecting your vehicle. More than likely though, you've got a worn out tensioner. That is the part that keeps tension on the serpentine belt. Take the belt off and wiggle the tensioner pulley to see if there is side to side slack in it. If so, replace it. If that isn't your problem, then look towards the idler pulley. That'll be another pulley that isn't on any accessories. It's just a pulley that holds the belt and keeps it tracking correctly. Check it just like you did the tensioner pulley.
If neither one of these seem worn, look carefully all under your hood for ANYTHING loose.
BTW. If your tensioner or idler pulley has to be replaced, inspect your new belt carefully and make sure you haven't already caused damage to it. If it has, then it's a good idea to replace it again, or at least buy a spare and keep in the trunk in case that one breaks, leaving you stranded.
Q: Camry Solara?
Do you think Toyota willl have completely redesigned Camry Solara in 2008?
I am thinking of getting one and current modle has been in the market since 2003.
A: Good question I have a brother that work for T,Q,F,M, if you don't know what that is you will have to look it up but he thinks that they are going to change it.
I think you should check out the 2007 Camry SE V6 I just got one and I love it they are hard to find in some parts of the country but there worth searching for
This is my 3rd Camry I know just about everything about them and I think they really did a good job on this new one it is the fastest sedan they have ever built.
Q: Sentra SE-R. A car worth buying?
I am thinking to buy a 2002 or 2003 Nissan Sentra SE-R with automatic transmission (I prefer that to manual). I am looking for a car that has around 60K miles on it and I don’t want to spend more than 10K on it. Currently I drive Toyota Solara LE 1999.
What do you think about the SE-R? Is it worth it?
A: i have the previous generation of Nissan Sentra, and i would say go for it. it has decent acceleration, operates at higher RPM's than other 4 cyl sedans but not good with gas.
