Q: how do i change the head light bulb for 2001 Toyota solara?
i cant get the bulb to come out, is there something i need to do?
A: you just need to turn it counter clockwise and then pull it out your owners manual should show you how to do it. under "Do it yourself Maintenance.
Q: what do the lights on my 2001 toyota solara dashboard mean?
There's a light that has been turning on and off randomly on my dashboard for about a week, it looks like an old recording camera and it says"check" on the bottom of it. does anybody know what it means?
A: That's the check engine light. You need to take it to a mechanic and have them hook the car up to their diagnostic computer to see what's wrong. It could be any number of things. It could be serious. It could also be something as simple as the odometer rolling over 100,000 miles. Many newer cars are set up to have the light come on at 100,000 miles. At 100,000 miles most newer model cars need a tune-up and a new serpentine belt.
Q: 2001 TOYOTA SOLARA warning light an orange car symbol on the far right what does it mean?
I bought a used TOYOTA SOLARA a few months ago. Today out of no where a small orange picture of a car on the far right on my dash bord lit up. Dose any one know what it stands for? I do not have a owners manual with the car. Please help.
I MEAN EXTREEM LEFT OF THE DASH! MY BAD.
A: It might have something to do with the traction control, if the icon resembles the back of a car and looks like there's an "S" shaped tread pattern following it.
Q: just had timing belt and water pump replacement for my 2001 Toyota Solara after that I noticed RPM changed.?
Is it normal for an engine to idle at 1000 rpm?
A: 1000 is a bit high usually it is around 700 rpm if the idle is higher take it back
Q: I just had timing belt and water pump replacement for my 2001 Toyota Solara after that I noticed RPM changed.?
Is it normal for an engine to idle at 1000 rpm?
A: Typicaly,... no. I especialy do not believe it is normal for a solara. I persoanly cant imagine it's idle being over 780rpm.
For whatever reason, it is having to work harder to run the water pump or timing belt. Definitely have whoever installed it take a look at it, overstressing the motor is not a good thing to do.
Q: how to disable the engine immolbilizer on a toyota solara 2001 sle?
A: It is not possible to disable the immobilizer system with the computer and other hardware that comes with the car. And if you tried a different computer, it probably would not match the engine management hardware on the car. If it were easy, there wouldn't be much security in it. About the only way to defeat it is to tape or othewise fasten a programmed key near the transponder key coil located at the ignition switch. Then you could use any kind of key to start it.
Hope this helps. God Bless.
Q: 2001 toyota solara. Timing belt went and we had the valves done, new water pump, cylinder head all replaced.?
One day later the car won't idle. It will start and then just die. The mechanics are jerking me around and I'm ready to lose it. What could be the problem, and what can I do about the mechanics.
A: on some no tolerance engines, if the belt goes, it usually bends valves and can damage pistons or other. If the head was repaired/replaced and the block components are ok, there is no reason whatsoever that a big job like that would not restore the engine to it's proper performance. I can only say that the most likely cause would be improper intallation of either timing components, or peripheral compnents dislocated from the head or possibly collapsed lifter(s) if break-in was not precise. The odds of a non-related failure coincidental at this particular time is very very slim.
I would hope they replaced all exposed components in timing area. pulleys, tensioner, sprockets, any timing belt driven pumps etc...
It could also be that something was overlooked. If they did the timing properly, I would hope it would be wither a ignition, fuel, emission component problem such as forgetting to plug in a harness connector or actually breaking a sensor, voltage spike to PCM, snapping plastic vacuum hose or misrouting a solenoid or other vacuum activated component.
If they don't fix it properly, document everything and write your State Attorney General with the complaint.
Q: Question regarding my car brakes, 2001 Toyota Solara?
Hey I was wondering if any of you knew what could possibly be wrong with my brakes......... there is like a whistling sound everytime I let go of the accelerator or brake , its not an extremely loud sound but its a whistling sound only on the right front side of my car , and the sound usually subsides after a while if i continue driving without stopping. Anything would help, its just that i dont want to get ripped off when i go to the mechanic shop.
oh yeah, the brake pads are fine, so it is not the brake pads.....
A: Whistling? We are just guessing here, but, If the sound stays when you are not braking and your pads are fine, I would check on the power booster, which uses vaccum to work. Its diaphragm can be leaking and will produce a hissing sound.
Q: how good is a 2001 toyota solara v6?
i had a just retired my 93 v6 camry in a crash im allright but the car is dead. i got my money out of it with 230k+ miles i want a car that is as reliable. i am a college student and i am looking for a simular car with a bit more sporty looks and this car looks good i just want to know if the 1mz-fe with vvti technology in this solara is as reliable in how much life it has as my previous camry with the 3vz-fe. it seems like it should with almost identical power actually a little more but unoticable with lower rpms in total so i assume it would last as long but i am no mechanic any so can anyone tell me how they feel about this car? or if any mechanics have any adivce about the reliability of this car? thank you very much i appreciate all advice.
A: The new cars are great. Just change the oil and take care to flush the trans. every 60k or so and you should be very happy.
Q: how hot is a 2001 toyota solara? my friend said its a chick magnet?

A: I like it!!! I think it is a pretty hott car.

yea two things wrong with the sebring first i am buying a coupe so your not my competitor. next i am buying key word a 2001 so its not new so no deal on gas. and finally i recal this manly asking mostly how reliable is the solara mostly asking about the dependibility of the powertrain and i know for sure that as bad as the solara could be if it was camrys worst engine they mad it would still out last any pathetic american chrysler for at least 80,000 miles if you actually know how to maintain an engine like i do so read the question first please.
A: Hi, I'm only answering because the competitor for the Solara is the Chrysler Sebring. I recommend the Sebring as it's a lot quieter inside when driving as it has better insulation in the roof. It's pain-free as in you don't have to crank the handle to latch the top or unlatch it. It's just a push of a button. They also come in a hard top convertible that is super nice, but spendy. That's on a newer model Sebring however. If you go with an older model, you'll be able to find them really cheap even with low miles.
Also, Chrysler has the $2.99 gas guarantee that is a limited time offer. Lets say this summer leads to major hurricanes that drive fuel prices up as they are already almost $4.00 a gallon. What about next summer or the next summer. You will get the $2.99/gallon price for the next 3 years....that would be THREE summers. This is only if you buy new of course and you seem to not be shopping new cars, but something to consider.
I hope you shop Chrysler as well before making your decision.
With regards to your add-on. I'm sorry you feel you must be so rude. You don't like American cars...are you a terrorist? Because that would explain how rude you are. I only answered your question b/c I felt sorry for you b/c no one else wanted to answer your question that had been sitting there for hours, so I at least entertained you for three seconds of your life. I believe you said "I appreciate all advice." Don't write that if you don't mean it and clearly YOU DID NOT MEAN IT! I'm so sorry my answer has brought you such clear pain. Enjoy your 2001 dream car! And it's mainly, not manly.
Q: I'm interested in buying a 2001 Solara, and I want to know if anyone can get me the actual "report".
The VIN # is 2T1FF28P21C491572-
I'm getting pressure from the dealer saying he's "holding back other prospective buyers".
I need to call him today ASAP, he's a little high pressure, but we were approved for the loan ONLY for this particular 2001 Toyota Solara Converitble
Any help getting a "free" report would be so... appreciated.
Thanks
A: . If you can't afford the $15 report, you can't afford the car. Of course the proper way to Inspect this car is to have an independent mechanic check it over for about $80. Once he puts it up on the Rack, he can look for damage and flooding.
Or you could ask to speak to the previous owner.
And the only way this saleman could 'pressure' you is because you can't get 'approved' elsewhere.
Maybe if you print out this web page @ http://motors.search.ebay.com/2001_Solara_W0QQfcclZ1QQfclZ3QQfrppZ50QQfsooZ2QQfsopZ2QQsacatZ84166 ;
it'll put some pressure on the salesman.
Are you paying $7G for it? Probably NOT. More like $13?
Anyway, it's a top of the line Toyota so it's a good car.
Q: 2001 toyota solara se, air conditioning problem?
The A/C works for maybe 1-2 minutes then turns off and the light on the button starts blinking. Then will not work for a few days. But if I turn the knob to defrost the light on the a/c button stays on and the defrost selection will somewhat cool the car. I used a code reader and did not come up with any code. I had the system checked and it was a little low on freon. Had it filled and the problem did not change. Does anyone have any ideas on whats going on?
A: the a/c light is blinking because the a/c clutch is slipping. It could be something simple as your a/c belt does not have enough tension on it. Most of the time when this happens though I've had to replace the a/c compressor and clutch. toyota tech 13 years.
Q: what octane should i be using in my 2001 toyota v6 solara?
A: if it doesnt knock or ping on regular i wouldnt worry about it ... if u detect any knock at all while accelerating i would use a higher grade though ... even going half regular/half premium usually will be good enough. users manuals almost always recommend premium because of liability reasons. on a hot day if ur driving in hilly country and you pound the rods out of ur motor by knocking it they dont want to be accused.

A: You may be interested to know that the Camry and the Solara are made on the same platform, only major difference is obviously the body style. THEY ARE AWESOME!!! And in my opinion, the 2001 body style is better than the 2004+
