A: I RECOMEND THAT TAKE THE BATTERY OFF 1ST TAKE IT TO AUTO ZONE IF YOU HAVE ONE IN THE AREA AND THEY DO FREE BATTERY TEST IF IS GOOD IS YOUR STAR IT

A: Im not positive but its either mounted under the dash near your shifter or in the trunk mounted on the top, (if you lay down in the trunk on your back its right above you)

Q: I need to get an inspection on my 1999 toyota Solara, the engine light stays on?
put in a new egr valve, had the codes reset, drove it for about 40 miles when i shut it off and turned it on again the light is still on, i also had the o2 sensor replaced last year for inspection. it also came back on again after i passed inspectionmy 10 day NY sticker is expired, the buffallo ny meter maid wants to give me a ticket the next time she see my car downtown HELP
A: Go to the dealer. It will cost you but it will be fixed right or they will repair it until it is. In truth you can get any mechanic to work on it. They will read the codes and fix at it. They don't want to REPAIR it. That would cost them money from your repeat business as you keep bringing it back. The dealer just wants you gone. They have all the business they can handle.

what should i do? the bumber and hood look as thoughthe previous owner drove it on a dirt road or something because they have smalll spot-like scratches and gouges? should i repaint them, and if so how easy would it be to do this at home
A: Take it to a body shop for respray of clearcoat. It shouldn't be too much money, but this isnt something you can do at home unless you've done it before.

A: I read your other post in car audio and i just wanted to say again, the amplifier is integrated into the headunit. The power for an external amp, (an amp that is not integrated) will be marked on the amp as +. most likely you dont have an external amp and the power wire on your headunit is the only powerwire you need to worry about/.

it has a sun/moon roof with an acs button. I have the Chilton and Manual yet no mention of this button. It shows the buttons to be different, actually. Would anyone know what this 'acs' button is for? When I press it is lights up red and well.....I have no clue what it is for :)

A: ASC stands for American Sunroof Company; they build Toyota's moonroofs. Here is a quote from tundrasolutions.com showing what it is for:
"The ASC button should toggle between green and red each time you push it. When it is green the sunroof should close automatically when the ignition is turned off. When red, the sunroof will remain open when the car is turned off.
It is also used to program how far the panel will open when the 'open' button is pressed."

Q: Pioneer AVIC-D3 in 1999 Toyota Solara making popping noises?
I have a Pioneer AVIC-D3 in my 1999 Toyota Solara and sometimes (usually when the car is cold) the rear speakers make popping sounds...and it gets really annoying. I have checked all the wiring and it works just fine when the car is off, but when i start the car it starts popping...sometimes it stops...sometimes it goes on for a minute uncontrollably. I have a feeling that it could be something with the alternator of the car...because the head unit is new...any ideas what could be causing this?

A: Yes. Bad grounding. More than likely your grounding wire from your head unit to your battery. It is possible it could be the power wire from your battery to your head unit, but less likely. Best thing you can do is hook a multimeter up and check the resistance between the connection on your head unit to the battery. If you need to check your power wire, be sure to test from the battery to the fuse, and then the fuse to the head unit. That well help you better isolate the ground. More than likely just a crushed wire somewhere, or a melted sleeve. Good luck. Wire chasing can be a pain.
