Some one tried to break into my car and broke the metal piece that you depress(?) when opening the boot from the outside. Is their some sort of safety latch on the inside that I just haven't found?

A: pull panel turn locking pin with pliers or screw driver

Q: 2001 Toyota Sienna Minivan steering wheel vibration?
Our Toyota Sienna has an intermittent steering wheel vibration problem that shows up normally when we are on long trips. The tires are good, and balanced, with the right air pressure in them. (According to 2 different technicians) the rotors have been turned, the linkage is all tight, and not worn. The van drives like a dream most of the time, but occasionally you can feel the vibration start to happen, and like I said, on long trips (going at 60 to 80 MPH) , the vibration can get scary bad. When you put on the breaks it gets worse. When I pull over the stock alloy rims on the front tires are hotter than you would ever think they should be. They would instantly vaporize water put on them at that point. Occasionally, just on a short trip across town the vibrations start occurring, but it’s always unpredictable. I was thinking about getting new struts ($500-$800), but that is just a shot in the dark. Any ideas as to why this could be happening? Just had Pep Boys look at it today. They say the rotors are good. Another shop had turned the rotors and replaced brakes 4-6 months earlier. Also, both sides get hot. Still think it’s a sticking break? Also, the vibrations start out of nowhere when we have been going on the highway for a while with no breaking. No noise that I know of.

A: replace the front wheel bearings. i've seen a lot of wheel bearings go bad on the old body style siennas. is there any noise associated with the vibration? there usually is with wheel bearings.

Q: How do I know which size snow chains to buy for my 2001 Toyota Sienna?
Which nationwide automotive stores carry a good supply of snow chains?

A: They dont go by the kind of car, they go by the size of tire that is stamped on the sides of them. Napa, Autozone, Kragen, Les Schwab, any parts store or tire shop should have them.

Q: 2001 Toyota Sienna V-6: How the hell do you get the rear bank spark plugs out?

A: the easiest way for someone who has never done it before is to remove the wiper cowl by removing the rubber seal which is held on by about 10 plastic clips then remove the wiper arms by popping the covers off of the bottom of them and take off the 14mm nuts that hold them on then the arms will come off then the plastic part of the cowl will come off by lifting up and pulling out towards the front of the car and then there is about ten 10mm bolts that hold the lower cowl in place remove those then remove the 3 10mm that hold the air duct in place then disconnect the washer lines at the passenger side of the cowl and one rubber hose on the same side then the lower cowl will lift out. if that is still not enough room then you can remove the plenum which is held down by 4 bolts and nuts and disconnect the throttle body by pulling the 4 nuts and bolts that hold it to the plenum and let the throttle body just hang there you can reinstall the plenum with out a new gasket because it is a steel gasket you will probably have to take off some vacuum lines so just mark them so they go back in the same place i know it sounds like alot of work but its either that or you can use a wrench and swivel and you might be able to get them after you fight with it for a while. trust me if you try it without removing any thing you will cuss, throw things, threaten to sell the van, and possibly even kick it HAVE FUN AND GOOD LUCK

Q: Why does it require 3 hours to change spark plugs in a 2001 Toyota Sienna 6 cly van ?

A: You need to ask the so called engineers at toyota that, dont blame the mechanic that the book time is 3 hours. There are some Ford products that call for 5 hours to change plugs.

Q: how do i find a replacement am-fm antenna for my 2001 toyota sienna.?
i have the factory installed antenna which screws in at the front fender. i would like to get a new shorter mast which would screw into the antenna recepticle i already have. i'm getting tired of always removing my antenna when i go through car washes. it also hits a bike tire from a bike i have hanging in the garage and one of these days i'm afraid it will get tangled in the bicycle tire spokes & the whole bicycle will come tumbling down. does anyone make a short stubby antenna that i can just screw in?

A: try radio shack and I have even seen differen't antennas in walmart, get an old style antenna where you can raise or lower it.

Q: My 2001 Toyota Sienna has labeled wire group under steering ; what remote starter should I buy?

A: At Sears, get a Diehard battery

Q: I locked the glove box on our 2001 Toyota Sienna. Now I can't unlock it!? Help? Any ideas are appreciated?
I locked the glove box with the ignition key. I found another key to the same car but it doesn't open the glove box either!

A: Those locks are weak. Just get a paperclip and bend it in half and use that. Mess with it a little and you'll probably pop it open. Where is the ignition key that you used to lock it in the first place?

Q: Where is the washer pump on a 2001 toyota sienna?
i already looked on autozone, all the website says is that it is .25lbs but it does not say where it is located, the wipers work, but no fluid comes out, there is no leak and the pump doesn't run when it should...

A: it is mounted on the side of the washer bottle near the bottom. it pops into the side of it to syphon the water and then pumps it up the tube

Q: 2001 Toyota Sienna noise after parking?
Every time I get into my Sienna to go somewhere, after a few seconds it will make a weird noise that I can feel through the pedal for about two seconds. It seems to be speed triggered, not time triggered, and it takes a little while, it's not immediate. It also doesn't seem to be related to whether I back out or pull forward, or have anything to do with whether I use the brakes or not. It reminds me of those old toy cars that had a little plastic strip that touched the gear to make a noise. After it does the noise (EVERY time I go somewhere), it won't do it again until I turn the car off and go somewhere else. I haven't tried putting it back in park after it does the noise to see if it does it again, but I am completely confused as to what it could be. Any ideas? I am hoping it's not something expensive in the transmission.

A: that's going to be tough to answer without hearing it in person.take it to a reliable mechanic and ask them, that would be the best thing to do.
