Q: Is it necessary to service the ac evaporator of my 2000 Toyota sienna if there's no cooling problem/?
The service advisor at the toyota dealership recommended cleaning the ac evaporator on my toyota sienna 2000 with 130,000 miles on it.I have no trouble with the van except that it's 8 years old.Am I being set up for a ride? What benefit will the service do except emptying my wallet?

A: OK. There are two coils in your A/C System. One is the Condenser, it is in front of the rad, it CAN get clogged with dirt, bugs, etc... Second is the Evaporator, this is somewhere in between the dash and firewall of your car. I can't see the Evaporator being dirty, I've taken lots out, and they've never seemed dirty enough to warrant cleaning them. If, on the other hand, you're talking about the Condenser, then it could be dirty, but you could just take a garden hose and spray it down, after all, it should be in plain view when you pop the hood. Just my take on it.

Q: Where are the spark plugs located on a 2000 Toyota Sienna?
My van has over 80000 miles on it. I've never changed the plugs. The check engine light came on. It is running sluggish. (Chugging). I believe the plugs may be fouling but I can't locate them. Can anyone help me, please? What specific tool do I need to remove the cover to expose the other 3 plugs?

A: Below the cover, under the ignition coils,3 in front,3 in the back.

Q: Horn is not working - 2000 Toyota Sienna?
I have a strange problem with my Sienna 2000 with 123k miles. The horn works fine when car is in "Park" with engine running or stopped. It works also when car is in running at < 5-10 miles / hour. But it stops working when the car is moving at higher speed. The pattern is very consistent. The Van has no problems otherwise and drives very smooth with no vibration etc. I will appreciate any suggestion to resolve this issue and an estimate on how much it costs to fix the problem. Thanks in advance!

A: Some Toyotas in that year still had electromechanical horns, and the interior breaker contacts that move with the diaphragm can get oxidized. At road speed, the slight wind pressure on the diaphragm is enough to keep it from maintaining the circuit to ground, to start oscillation when the horn relay is triggered. On some of these, there is an adjustment screw on the side of the horn body that sets the diaphragm pre-load. It's there to tune the horn for peak loudness, but a slight tweak can get an oxidized horn to work a bit longer. Or, you could just replace it, while you've got it off, with a better aftermarket horn: http://www.eautoworks.com/html/ord-1-1-1-32413.cfm

Q: What do you think of the 2000 Toyota Sienna LE?

A: Anyone bashing Toyota in virtually every answer he gives is OBVIOUSLY biased. Sorry NASCAR24, but be realistic. I agree that the Honda Odyssey is a great minivan, and if she were looking at brand new cars I would probably recommend it. But the car the lady wants is a 7-year-old Sienna. Toyotas are known largely for their longevity, THE MOST important aspect of a used vehicle. So, to answer your question, for a van of that age, i don't think you could find a better choice. Yes, the Honda is also good. But if you like the Sienna, buying it would be a safe, excellent choice. By the way, Toyota is NOT slipping in quality, and the Sienna is NOT small and uncomfortable. I have no idea where he got those notions. With all due respect to NASCAR24, I do not appreciate slanderous and blatantly false information given to car buyers. Does that help?

Q: Toyota Sienna LE 2000, 128k miles, "ABS"/Engine light are on - NO ABS "WOOM" SOUND on startup anymore! :-S
I have 2000 Toyota Sienna LE. It has about 128k miles, but I've always kept on top of all the maintenance. When I started it, I would always hear a wooom right before or after ignition (depending on how long I left the engine on before firing). I assume this is the ABS system kicking in. However, today I tried to start up, and it failed. The "check engine" and "ABS" lights came on. I figured it was an anomaly, so I fired again. It did start, but the "check engine" and "ABS" lights remain on. I do *NOT* hear that wooom ABS sound. The van is drivable; I had to move it between parking lots. However - and it could just be paranoia - it seems like it has lost some oomph; usually the gas pedal is really sensitive, but today it was not. Also, it could have been because I didn't drive it around long enough, but the temp gauge never moved from it's dead below-zero point. Is it safe to drive? Should I pick up a code reader? Take it into the dealer? Thanks!

A: It MAYbe safe to drive! Don't bother with a code reader, You likely ca'nt fix it anyway! I'd take it to a proper repair person, brakes are nothing to fool with!

Q: I have a 2000 Toyota Sienna with a P0155 code Where can I get a flow chart or a trouble tree chart or a wiring?

Q: Window problem in 2000 Toyota Sienna LE?
My family has a 2000 Toyota Sienna LE with 116K miles on it. We've had it for over 5 years with no major issues. Not too long ago I've noticed that the driver's side window does not want to roll up and only does so very hesitantly and then stops. I then have to wait for a little to roll it up another half inch or so. I'm guessing its either a short or a window motor failure but I don't want to spend the money to get it checked out because its not a major issue. Does anyone have any other ideas as to what it could be and is there a way to diagnose the problem yourself? Any input will be wholeheartedly appreciated. Thank you.

A: it's most likely window switch or motor. don;t go to the dealer you can get one alot cheaper. or better yet maybe the window is offline with the cable. unscrew the door and see if window looks attatched properly and if it is then it's what i mentioned. should be no more than $200 to fix. you can go to a junk yard and get one for maybe 20-30 dollars or a auto parts store that has re furbished ones for about 70-80 if you don;t wanna spend a couple hundred for a new one

Q: 2000 Toyota Sienna, power window acting up?
My wifes 2000 Sienna, the drivers door power window stops about 6" up. Wait 10 mins. and it will either go up all the way, or stop again after 3". Wait another 10 mins. and it might/might not go up again. I tried placing each hand on either side of the glass, as she pulled up on the switch. Once it went right up, the second time it stopped mid-way again. How do I know if it's the motor, gears, or just binding in the tracks? Could it be the switch? I don't want to replace parts that might not be the problem. Like everyone else money is tight.

A: Sounds like a power window motor going bad. When the motor heats up, it shuts down. After it cools off a bit it will work then stop. Common problem on many different models.

A: Napa part # is DEM AF10037 for a new one and it is abut $389.00. Would recommend using dielectric grease on plug end when installing.
