Question: I am trying to get a cold air intake for my 1999 2.7 L toyota tacoma. I don't want to spend a lot of money. I found a cold air intake for the 3.4 L V6 for about $70. Would that system fit on my 2.7 four cylinder. i know that 4 and 6 cylinder have different parts, but the air boxes are in the same location along with the throttle body and the tube for the air intake. Answer: No, 4 cyl and 6 cyl are not compatable for parts.
Question: Hi, i am seriously thinking about purchasing an 06 or 07 Tacoma double cab with the 4.0 v6. Does anone have any comments or complaints about this truck? Also has anyone used it for towing? I currently own a 98 f-150 4x4 and occasionally use it to tow my Mustang and trailer to the track. It roughly has the same h.p. rating as the Tacoma but torque output i'm unsure of. Has anyone towed a vehicle with the Tacoma, if so any feedback would be greatly appreciated. Thanks! Sorry forgot that little detail, it's the 4.6 Answer: Your Tacoma will tow your mustang just fine, The 4.0 is a very strong engine, you do realize that you are going from a full size truck to more of a compact truck so the towing behavior will be different. You may be a little disappointed with the fuel mileage, but the strong performance will make up for that. Not sure if you have a 4.6 or 5.4 in your F150. I say for occasional towing you will be fine. Toyota quality is far superior, and they are great looking trucks.
Question: I've been researching the toyota tacoma and look like nice reliable trucks. But it seems that they range all the way from 12mpg-30mpg. I'm looking for at least 20mpg city. I only want automatic though. Any help is great, thanks. Answer: you get about 15- 19 MPG it depends on how you drive them, if you keep up on your oil changes and keep a clean air filter. they are great trucks, very dependable and never break down or have any problems. Also if you were to get a
Question: Will toyota be having a one ton diesel in the Tacoma anytime soon? Or just a Tacoma one ton or just a diesel in the USA? Answer: Well, some of the people who responded are right and wrong. Yes, the Hilux does come with a diesel, but not all of them. Plus it is not sold in the US. Tacoma will never have a diesel. Tundra might. Plus, Toyota does make diesel engines. Ones that would work great in the Tundra. But, they are only used in larger cargo trucks and in Europe. Hopefully they will get into it soon!
Question: The boyfriend and I are looking at purchasing a 1996 Toyota Tacoma Ext Cab - we're going to go look at it this weekend. I'm looking to get some reviews on this type of truck. We currently have a 2001 Chevrolet Blazer - which has been nothing but a lemon, and we're scared to get another lemon! This is what the ad says... "I am selling my 1996 Toyota Tacoma ext cab, burgundy in color. It has 186000 km on it, and is inspected until March 2009. It recently had a motor swap, and could use minor work(new crank sensor, washer fluid jet), but inspection was no problem. There is some rust on the driver side wheel well. It is a 4 cylinder, automatic transmission, rear wheel drive, heat works great, and runs great. It includes a sliding back window, sunroof, and cap. It has a mint interior, and was lightly driven. " He is asking for $6,000 obo (We're thinking around $5,500 or so as there is repairs to be done). Does that sound like a fair price? Thanks so much everyone!! Also too...I understand the truck will not be in PERFECT shape...I work at a Chevrolet Dealership, so I have access to new and used parts of any brand cheep... Answer: Normally I'd say go for it, but that price is way too high. If you have any kind of rust, it will cost you tousands of dollars to fix. Do yourself a huge favor and pass this one up. Even if they were offereing it for $2,000, you're still up the creek if your head gaskets go out or you need to replace an O2 sensor (or 4!). If you can squeeze it in, you should be able to find one even w/V-6, 4X4 for $8K-$10K. The other thing is the maintenance. You are supposed to change out the diff oil every 30Kmi, Timing belt 70Kmi, and tranny fluid/filter every 70Kmi. Unless all that was done and on time, you are running a huge risk of having just another lemon even if it is a Toyota.
Question: I am in the process at looking at another truck. I currently own a 94' Nissan Pick-up but I am looking for something newer. I came across the Tundra and the Tacoma and I heard Toyota trucks are pretty good and reliable. I know the Tundra is the bigger of the two but which one would recommend for a 20 year old college student? Also, not that it is a big deal or anything but does the 01-04 model Tundras and Tacomas come with keyless entry? Anyways, positive answers would be appreciated. Thanks. Answer: Niether, if it has to be Japanese buy another Nissan. Thier engines beat out the Americans for power (sometimes). Toyota also had the most recalls of any manufacturer, and Ford had more than GM and DaimlerChrysler combined. Toyotas also have common complaints about the plastic rattling itself off, only to be told theres som much plastic its impossible to fix. Toyotas reliability has also gone while the demand has risen. My alternatives? Instead of getting a Tacoma, look at a Dodge Dakota, they have excellent ratings, is picked a cars.com top pick, and will out haul most fullsize trucks. For a fullsize (during the years you want) a Nissan Titan would be awesome. With base equipment this will beat comparative American trucks. Its also bigger than a Tundra, his more rugged styling and is just as reliable. If you can buy new look at the GMC Sierra, Chevy Silverado or Dodge Ram. edmunds.com rated Chevy the top fullsize truck, and that was the old design. However they said the Dodge was the most comfortable. Hope this helps:) and feel free to question me
